vehicle: passion_cleaner location: quarry near Tuttlingen, Schwäbische Alb audio sources: May 1st demonstration slogans, voice "Passion5" is a proposed manoeuvre for a passion_cleaner vehicle, in this case a dredger construction and digging machine - equipped with a set of large loudspeakers. Slogans shouted during the demonstrations on Labour Day are claiming the right for freedom and the autonomy of alternative political systems. These slogans are broadcast in an unlikely setting where the passions appear out of place, raising the question of political power, representation and agency in public spaces. The performance "Passion5" originally took place as an artistic intervention during the 'Late Shift' event series at the Puls 5 redevelopment site in Zurich in November 2005. There the project presented an atmospheric installation about different forms of passion: the passion of political activism in street protests (passion_cleaner), and the passion of scientific research, articulating playful curiosity with systems of public order. project page: www.krcf.org/krcfhome/Passionweb/index.htm |
